Baptism is the action of being immersed in the water and symbolizes dying and being buried with Christ. The action of coming out of the water pictures Christ’s resurrection.
"Or don’t you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were therefore buried with Him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life."
What should I wear when getting baptized?
We will be giving each person a special t-shirt to wear when getting baptized. Please make sure you get yours at the welcome table when you arrive. In addition to the shirt, you are free to wear a modest swimsuit for baptism (no two-piece suits please) or comfortable clothing.
In baptism, there are two requirements before a person is baptized: 1) the person being baptized must have trusted in Jesus Christ as Savior, and 2) the person must understand what baptism signifies. If a person knows Jesus as Savior, understands that baptism is a step of obedience in publicly proclaiming their faith in Christ, and desires to follow the example of Jesus through baptism, then we welcome that person to take part in this with us.
Christian baptism does not add anything to your salvation. It is a beautiful response to already being saved. It is a public celebration of moving from death to life through faith in Christ Jesus.
